World War II Navy Torpedo Bomber
Entering the war as the replacement for the obsolete Douglas TBD Devastator, the Grumman TBF / TMB Avenger was the most important Allied Torpedo Bomber of World War II. The Avenger saw action after the battle of Midway and was instrumental in the destruction of the Japanese Fleet and the winning of the Pacific war. Flown by several notable Naval Aviators, the most famous was the young George Herbert Walker Bush who would eventually become the 41st president of the united States. The Avenger was originally designed by the famous Paul Del Gatto and kitted by Scientific as part of their famous hollow log series of planes. The Blackhawk Models version of this famous plane faithfully replicates the robust lines and unique ball turret of the original aircraft. This is a 'must have' in your collection of WW2 aircraft!
